Winter People proudly announce their first Australian headline tour and an accompanying 4-track EP, featuring the new single ‘Gallons’. The lead track recently debuted on the Top 20 AIR radio charts following heavy rotation on Triple J and various key community stations. The ‘Gallons’ EP clearly hints at what is to come from the band’s ambitious debut record – it features another previewed album track (Valley Hymn), a delicate rendition of a century-old folk song (Man Of Constant Sorrow) and an outstanding acoustic version of the new single. The ‘Gallons’ EP highlights the depth of writing and literary spirit of Winter People and was mixed by Peter Katis (Interpol, The National).

Following the disappointing (& rainy) cancelation of the Playground Weekender and Secret Garden events last month fans will finally have the chance to get up close and personal at one of Winter People’s highly respected and exciting live shows. This six-piece, boasting no fewer than 2 violin players and 5 vocalists, do not offer standard ‘indie’ fare, but instead insist on reaching for something more grandiose and emotional.

Winter People will perform their first Australian headline dates directly off the back of their current support tour with indie darling, Gossling.

Winter People – ‘Gallons’ Tour

Presented by FBi Radio w/ special guest Battleships (all dates)

24 May The Workers Club, MELBOURNE w/ Cold Hiker

http://www.moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=56656

7 June Oxford Arts Factory, SYDNEY w/ Caitlin Park

http://www.moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=56662

8 June The Bridge Club, BRISBANE w/ Little Casino

http://www.moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=56655

Tickets On Sale Now from Moshtix. $12 + bf (pre) // $15 (door). All Shows are over 18+.

‘Gallons’ has a gut-wrenching final minute, which twists and turns through time signatures and triplet grooves that comes out at the end leaving you with absolute shivers. It’s … one of the biggest fuck-off rock progressions I’ve heard in a while, but it’s totally worth the wait. – One A Day

‘Gallons’ EP – will be released April 27, 2012

Inertia and Hub will join forces on a dynamic boutique record label, focussed not on genre, but solely on the quality of its releases. ‘HUB the label’ is a natural extension for the Hub management business and the partners are proud to announce the first two releases for the label.

The first will be the highly-anticipated fourth studio album from critically acclaimed Dappled Cities (new single available from Facebook); followed later in the year by the stunning debut offering from Sydney six-piece, Winter People (new single available from Unearthed). ‘HUB the label’ will release selected titles from the Hub management roster alongside other hand-picked Australian and International records each year.

Ash, Colin, Justin and the whole crew have built a contemporary company, with a global reputation and focus on innovation, independence and artistry at its heart. These are the same values we share at Hub. I can’t tell you how exciting it is to have the chance to finally work with Inertia on delivering some of our favourite artists and music to the world.”

Dappled Cities have announced the release of their first new single in over 3 years. ‘Run With The Wind’ has the potential to become their most loved track to date, and predicates how special the upcoming 4th studio album will be for Dappled Cities.

To coincide with the release of the single, Dappled Cities will host 3 very special live events in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney this coming May. ‘Run With The Wind’ is already an epic closer to their live show and is Dappled Cities most expressive musical moment to date. While the band have been performing selected songs from the new album in recent shows around Australia (including the Harvest Festival, TV On The Radio and Death Cab For Cutie tours) the May dates will allow them to bring the new album to life in full technicolour for the first time.

Dappled Cities ‘Run With The Wind’ release parties will take place on the following dates and are presented by Groupie Magazine. Tickets are On Sale Now. All Shows are over 18+.

Fri 4th May Northcote Social Club, MELBOURNE

Tickets available via www.northcotesocialclub.com phone bookings on 1300 724 867 || $18 + bf (pre) / $22 (door)

Thu 24th May Oh Hello, BRISBANE

Tickets available via Moshtix http://www.moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=56193 || $15 + bf (pre)

Thu 31st May Oxford Arts Factory, SYDNEY

Tickets available via Moshtix      http://moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=56036 || $18 + bf (pre) / $22 (door)

‘Run With The Wind’ is a 4-1/2 minute opus that features Dappled Cities trademark kinetic energy, but channelled in a new and exciting direction. A classic Dave Rennick vocal, full of tension and urgency, the track was mixed by Cenzo Townshend (Florence & The Machine, Bloc Party, Editors, U2, Friendly Fires et al) and is an indication of what is sure to become a watershed year for Dappled Cities.

It pays tribute to the themes in the classic films such as ‘Stand By Me’ and ‘The Outsiders’ about young manhood, friendship and lust. It was premiered this morning on Groupie Magazine’s website, check it out here:
