ABOUT:
Old Man River is the solo project of Ohad Rein. An intriguing and unique artist. Ohad was born in Australia but moved to Europe at the age of 3 and then onto Israel. His formative years included compulsory national service in the armed forces, and experience which inspired the young musician to travel back to his country of birth at the age of 25. His journey took him through New York (where Yoko Ono joined him busking in Central Park) and Varanassi in India where he studied sitar for 12-months under a guru.
Landing back in Australia Ohad soon formed a musical bond with The Sleepy Jackson’s Luke Steele and Edo Kahn from Gelbison and their experimental pop album ‘Nations By The River’ was signed to XL for the US and UK. Those same musical circles provided the inspiration for the birth of Old Man River, at a time of turbulence in Ohad’s personal life Old Man River provided an uplifting outlet and soon the debut ‘Sunshine EP’ was on air via Triple J and Old Man River began a tour that hasn’t stopped in over 2 years and has taken Old Man River to every continent on the planet.
The debut album, ‘Good Morning’ went on to sell over 80,000 copies globally and spawned a #1 single in Japan, #2 in Italy and Top 20 in Germany and Australia. Videos were shot in India, the band played to 20,000 people at a concert in Verona and Old Man River continues to open new markets with tours in Singapore and Korea.
The sophomore album was tracked partially in Sydney with Wayne Connolly and overdubs were completed in Israel and Mumbai with an 8 piece Indian string section and Bollywood choir.
