Winter People

About:

Folk-singer Dylan Baskind spent his teenage years playing and recording alone. Penning over 400 songs in this time, he chipped away at a solemn, solitary style. During his travels through Eastern Europe, Dylan says he was inspired to hear “folk music played as it was intended to be, as a communal act – songs about very contemporary experiences, but drawn out of traditional forms”.

Upon his return to Australia, he began putting together a band of friends and acquaintances, to relocate his old-style folk songs into a modern sonic palette. To this end, he found his Winter People: two violinists, Jane Andrews and Alex Coroneo, fellow guitarist Justin Zeltzer, bass player Daniel Ferguson and drummer Alex Robinson.

Winter People create Post-Rock Folk music.  Born into tradition, raised on distortion pedals and amplifiers. Combining the pastoral harmonies of the old world, with the bitter edges of the new one.  Songs of the Modern wilderness.
